  2. A few things today: Take 2!

    February 7, 2012 ~Carla~

First things first… my Double Challenge Week One finishes TOMORROW!!

Today is the *last day* for my week one decluttering & low (no) spend updates! I’ll be posting the new challenge tomorrow, a new mini challenge, and a new little something or other that you can win! So if you’d like to be in the drawing to win my zippy wallet, ‘git ‘er done!’ ;) lol!

So far on my list of people to go into the draw that have completed their challenges & left me comments on the post above are:
Judi, Eboo, Common Cents, Laura, SammyLeia, Amy, Kelly, Jane, Dawn, Cindy, Gill, Kim, Meri, Hawaii Planner, Allison, Susan, Debby, & Little Lamb! Cassie.

    Am I missing anyone?

It’s kind of hard for me to keep track of everyone, so I really need everyone to at least let me know they’ve completed their challenge on the post above. My dashboard doesn’t show me incoming links, so if you link to me without letting me know, I won’t be able to tell. I really don’t want to miss anyone… :(

Secondly, what is wrong with my blog?!

On another note… recently i’ve gotten some emails and read on some blogs that people aren’t able to get to my site, my posts aren’t showing up, no photos, being blocked from accessing my site, etc… is anyone else having issues? If so can you possibly email me (moraliaweblog (at) yahoo (dot) ca) and let me know what issues you’re having? I’m trying to figure it out from my end, but it’s kind of hard. I’m also debating on going to my own domain to avoid these issues and so I can get in a better commenting system. Thinking Disqus may be the way to go now that I *think* i’ve figured out how to keep my info saved. I find that after I reply to a couple comments i’m blocked out for the day from leaving any more replies to comments. I get the same ‘error’ my readers do, “slow down, you’re posting too fast!”. HUH!?!? lol!

So for those of you with your own personally owned site domains/blogs, can you tell me how you like them? Costs? Positive aspects? Negative aspects? I don’t know… I do really like my blog now, and with just a few tweaks it would be perfect, but it seems like I can’t really do that… or at least can’t figure out how to! lol! I’ve looked at Blogger, Tumblr, Posterous, etc… but they’re not singing to me, and i’m not impressed with all the advertising WordPress slaps on their blogs now. I don’t know…

Should I stay or should I go?

Thirdly, look at this cute little basket! lol! Isn’t it neat?! I whipped it up for my daughter last night to keep her guitar crap stuff in! She chose the colours because they match perfectly with her bedding… bright & fun!! The finished size to hold ‘stuff’ is about 7×7″…

Fourth, what kind of little prizes would you like to see for the next 3 weeks? Is everyone ok with mostly handmade items? Anything in particular that you’d *LOVE* to see me offer up? That’s reasonable… lol! As much as i’d like to give someone a new BMW, it’s just not gonna happen…. ;)

Ok, I’m sorry for the double post, but can you see all the photos on this post?!

  3. Blue Moon Bay (book review)

    ~Carla~

The first book I’ll be reviewing to month is “Blue Moon Bay” by Lisa Wingate…

Here’s what the back cover says….

Every Once in a Blue Moon Your Heart Waits at a Crossroads…

“For Seattle architect Heather Hampton, a trip back to tiny Moses Lake, Texas, is hardly in the plan. Yet because a promotion hinges on the sale of the family farmland, Heather heads to the last place she ever wanted to go. She’s determined to return home, signed contract in hand, the next day.

But the currents of Moses Lake take visitors on unexpected journeys. As Heather’s stay lengthens, she discovers a family steeped in secrets and an unexpected connection to local banker Blaine Underhill, despite his opposition to Heather’s project. With each new revelation and question, Heather can’t help but wonder if the handsome banker–and the family she has come to know again–are crooks or crusaders. Somehow she must find out the truth before she loses everything she has worked for and everything she’s found on the shores of Moses Lake.”

    My thoughts….

Truthfully, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started to read this novel as they don’t give much away in the description, but I guess that’s the point right!? ;) Judging by the cover, and the almost 400 pgs, I was really hoping to love it! lol! ! And I’m happy to say that I did! It keeps you in suspense with lots of plot twists & turns, but not enough that you have no idea what’s going on! lol! Honestly, I kept thinking to myself that this book would make an awesome movie! lol! (maybe one day?) There’s mystery, intrigue, family dynamics, friendship, and a little bit of romance bit round things out! It’s a very modern book & writing style, and I think that many women can relate to the main characters struggles & what she goes through while trying to find the right path for her life!

Blue Moon Bay is definitely a novel that will keep you drawn in & entertained from start to finish! :)
